The Hochalp-Hut lies at 1950 m below the Auenfelder Horn mountain, between the rope way Karhornbahn and the rope way Hochalpbahn. The rustic mountain hut is known for its good catering with local specialties such as Kässpätzlen or Kaiserschmarrn. Hochalp-Hut is best reached from the top station of the rope way Steffisalpbahn. The advantage of this route is that the ascent to the top station of the Steffisalpbahn, which takes about an hour, can be done by lift. With use of the Lechtal-Card is free of charge during the summer months. For a hike from the top station of the Steffisalpbahn to the Hochalp-Hut you should estimate about 1 hour. Those who walk up to the top station of the Steffisalpbahn must expect at least one hour. The descent from the Hochalp-Hut runs along a goods road, past the Bodenalpe hut back to Warth. For the circular hike one should estimate about 2.5 to 3.5 hours. It is also possible to hike or descend from Unterkrumbach to the Hochalp-Hut at the Jägeralp-Express rope way station. A trained mountain hiker needs about 1 to 1.5 hours for the ascent. The difference in altitude between Unterkrumbach and Hochalp-Hut is about 300 m.
