Kasermandl hut lies at 1410 m above Elbigenalp in the Lechtal. The old Kasermandl hut was recently completely rebuilt and reopened in spring 2016. The new hut is held in the rustic style and offers 60 seats in the interior and approximately 100 seats on the terrace. On the upper floor of the cabin there are two apartments and a room with several bunk beds. The Kasermandl hut offers a variety of delicacies, which have predominantly a regional origin. The easiest way to reach the Kasermandl hut from Elbigenalp is via a graveled goods road. Starting point of the hike is the Geierwally car park in the center of Elbigenalp. From the starting point one walks past the Elbigenalp carving school in a northerly direction, at the edge of the forest a sharp right turn and the path leads into the forest. Afterwards it goes on a constant gradient through the spruce forest in the direction of Kasermandl. The starting point can be reached not only by car but also by public transport. For a leisurely hike from Elbigenalp to Kasermandl you should expect about an hour's walk. The Kasermandl hut is located on the famous Geierwally Rundwanderweg circular trail. The Geierwally Rundwanderweg trail leads from Elbigenalp to Kasermandl hut and then into Bernhardstal valley. After crossing the Bernhardsbach creek, the Geierwally Rundwanderweg trail leads on the other side of the valley over the Gibler Alm hut back to Elbigenalp. Beside this hiking possibility there is the Hermann-von-Barth-Hut, a well-known alpine club hut and also some well-known peaks of the Allgäu Alps in the surroundings of the hut.
