Steeg

 village-round
 Steeg Richtung Hägerau
Steeg lies at the upper end of the Lechtal and is the last village before the border to Vorarlberg. The municipality lies at about 1100 m and consists of several hamlets. The most important are Gehren, Lechleiten, Hinterellenbogen, Ebene, Hägerau and Walchen. In the east Steeg borders on Holzgau, in the west on the Vorarlberg municipality Warth and in the south on Kaisers. The local mountain is the Pimig (2.406 m), which can also be climbed directly from Steeg via the Hinter-Pischen-Alpe. Several inns and hotels have settled in the municipality. In the centre of the village there is a cheese dairy which processes the milk from the upper Lechtal and the surrounding alpine pastures. The municipality also has a public indoor swimming pool and is the starting point for the Lechtal cycle path. In the summer months, the Kneipp facility at the Hägerau waterfall and the climbing garden in Lechleiten can be used free of charge. In winter there is a toboggan run at the foot of the Pimigspitze. Between the middle and end of September the annual Almabtrieb with parade and marquee takes place. Steeg is also the starting point for hikes into Bockbachtal and Krabachtal. Among the Alpine Club huts in the area are the Edelweis-Hut and the Kaiserjochhaus, both accessible via Kaisers. The Stuttgarter Hut can be reached via the Krabachtal, the Mindelheimer Hut and the Rappensee-Hut via the Hochalptal or from Lechleiten.
